So I lost my Baby O a few days ago to a freak accident so we stopped by a store on the way home, there was this absolutely gorgeous tiger O, anyway we didnt have time to buy him then, so we went back today and the O was still there, covered in fungus and whitespot . Anyway in another tank there was this lil guy, and he was begging me to take him home, I could just see it in his eyes LOL, so me being me I bought him LOL. He's still settling in now, got a bit bullied when I first added him so all aggressive occupants have been removed to fish bowls, while my new O settles in LOL. Right now he's sulking in a corner, I've named him Pendragon, to match Morgan Le Fey the Acara that lives in the same tank.

I also got 5 black widow tetras, have never had them before, so am going to see how they go in a species tank, they match the black and white sand wonderfully LOL.

Due to a recent full blown attack from my eels on the guppies they'd been living happily with for 6 months, the survivers were removed to a new tank, all I had left was 10 female fry I'd had separate and one adult female. So I picked up a new male again today to restart the colony, he's the bluey/white guy

pendragon is very pretty indeed :) lovely colours

She's a blue acara trust me.

Sigh I am so sick of this, I spent months convincing my parents to get me a big tank so I could ahve the oscar I'd dreamt about for so long, and I cant keep them alive. merlin choked on gravel, and I just found Pendragon on the floor, I've put him in a bowl of water, but I highly doubt he's still alive. why the hell did I even bother? I dont have any more money either, Merlin cost me $30, and Pendragon cost me $20 and I'm broke.

Discuslover- what do you think she is? after I bought her I spent hours double checking she wasn't a green terror, she has the black band through her eyes, and no orange/yellow/white on her tail. But she does have yellow on her dorsal, I was figuring on it being a new strain, or maybe having a hybrid introduced at some point, though she doesn't look like a hybrid to me. Oh and generally she doesn't show those stripes, they only appear at feeding time or when I chase her with a camera.

I doubt shes pure, she came from an LFS that was breeding its cichlids in ponds outside, but she doesnt seem to ahve green texas in her.

Heres a better pic

This, is a picture of a what I think to be full non-hybrid Blue Acara. As you can see the one you own is quite a bit darker, so I don't think it's full bred. It may also show some more aggressive traits of his/her parents...

I've never seen a blue acara like that before... you sure its not a diff type of acara? Plus thats an adult, Morgan is less then 2 inches long

I spent a tonne of time researching to double check she was a blue acara, and I'm am entirely certain she is, she looks like all the photos of juvenile blue acaras I found on the web. She also isn't darker, if anything she's a touch lighter then the link you posted.

Nope, that was a what I think to be full bred Aequidens pulcher. I think during times of stress they darken up a little. I am sure yours isn't a full bred Aequidens pulcher. You may want to get ox5477 on here with his opinion, because he is a bit better with this stuff then me...

Adult or no adult, I have owned an Acara exactly like that one, showing the same colors at 2 and a half inches...
