Fish are getting bigger by the week so I thought I would snap a couple of shots and post them for show and tell!

Nice rockwork! Tank looks very nice. Did you collect the rocks from a local river?

I collected the rock from a small stream on the far side of the country. I think it has terminally damaged the suspension on my car driving all that rock around for about 230 miles.

I particularly like fish in the first picture

Like nick stated the fish is a Male Pseudotropheus sp. elongatus Mpanga, the fish itself does not have the best genetic quality, as you can see from the the small numbers of lateral bars and the fact that they end half way down its body. I though I had picked up a female mpanga during the week but it turned out to be another male. But, the fish I picked up is a F2 so its a far better looking male so I might keep that one and get rid of the one in the picture.

Really nice. Beautiful fish. Are they native to one eco system (Lake)?

Hey Jollysue

They are all from lake malawi, up untill about two days ago they where all mbuna. "I know I am going to get slapped on the wrist for this" but I was out in a breeders house collecting the mpanga during the week and he was showing me his big malawi setup and he had an amazing looking species of hap living happily with his tank full of mbuna. I enquired how they coexisted and he told me that he never had any problem and that they where breeding regularly. He then popped the question if I wanted some!! It would be rude of me if I didn't take them. He also informed me that the parents where wild caught so they are F1 fish and only a hand full of people have them in Ireland. Lets just say I got them at a very reasonable price for F1 fish.

This is a picture of the fry

Looking really good tanks and some great pics. :good:

you should put pictures 3 and 4 on www.ratemyfishtank.com you could get some good ratings with that!

Thanks for the complement, I might try it in the future.

how do you get such good pics??? your so lucky :sly:

I suppose that it is more luck than anything else. I have a pretty good grasp of the functions on my camera, but what I find works out the best is just to take hundreds of photos, I mean hundreds!!! Then, the odds are good that at least some of the photos will be of ok quality.

Also of note: The picture of the mature hap that I posted, is not my picture!
