Some Help Please?

I feel I have to cut my LFS some slack, they have been good at explaining the reasons for my problems as I was cycling my tank, i/e high levels of nitrite causing problems, the need for live plants etc...

but considering I BOUGHT MY TANK FROM THEM, they should have known what fish I could have in there....and a few of the fish you guys have said are incompatible with each other were bought together on the same day!!

Its funny because they do come across as VERY helpful knowledgable people, Im just surprised that shop staff are that bothered about ripping people off as its the big dogs at the top that rake the money in not them on a salary....

what a world we live in.....

btw, no luck with the swapping of some of my fish in my local area  bit worried now.....

If all else fails, the best plan would be to give them back to the fish store, refund or no. At the very least you'll be able to provide a happy home for the fish that are compatible even if it means that the fish you have to give back aren't guaranteed a suitable home.

That's your problem right there, most staff in every store I've been in, good or bad does come across as very helpful and knowledgable, even if the answers they give you are way off the mark. I'm much more trusting of a LFS employee that gives me an honest "I don't know" rather than making up an answer. Several stores I've been in give bonuses based on the sales of the staff, and unless it's a massive chain store, the big dogs at the top (shop owners) often spend time out on the floor working with other staff.

Considering that you bought your tank from them and knew that you had just cycled, they shouldn't have sold you so many fish in the first place knowing that it hadn't been set up for very long, not to mention that adding most of these fish to a tank that isn't mature in the first place is risky.
