OK the mrs said one last tank and thats it

Was thinking of a ND made one but by the time i got the black background and opti white glass im looking at £577. I have a 200w heater and a APS 1000 external, i dont think they are up to the job of doing a 400L tank ? Then on top i need lights so another 100maybe?


Or i could get a jewl rio 300 for £620 all use their lights heater and pump and add the APS external for add flow


help me out here people

i would go for the jewl rio 300 use the APS external for add flow !

As you would need Min 300w heater and your filter is to small after you add the heater and filter on to the price tag it would come to about £85 going by what I paid on ebay from APS

I have a 480 ltr tank and use 3000lph external filter and am thinking I need more filters on it !

so in the end cost of ND tank would be more but its upto you i all ways say bigger is better

Yeah think that was the push i needed. I wonder if the APS can handle the fish load on its own as ill leave the jewl internal in to add with flow. Any guesses on how long the jewl filter will take to catch up 2-3 months?

Gday mate, i always go for second hand tanks, have you looked down that avenue? you can find some good stuff, that way you get waaaaay more for ya pennies

yeah im always on the look out but it needs to be local and in pristane condition so chances are not

There are still 2 versions of the rio 300 floating around.
The newer one has 50L more and is deeper. It should also have a taller cabinet/stand.

I had noticed the certain sites said 300 and others said 350, cant see a price difference so why would you go with less lol

It does mean that if you have short arms you may end up falling in!
i have gravel in mine and the vac is like a torpedo!
I dont think i could trust myself with sand in there without sucking most of it up.

Have a look at the Rena Aqualife tanks - if you insist on buying new you can get the 370L variety with all the gubbins, filter, heater and lights for £600.

I've just got one second hand (for less than half that) as a display tank in my front room and it looks brilliant. Personally I'd go second hand - enough people look after their tanks that there are usually a few available in good condition, and you could easily get a 5ft/450L or if you're lucky a 6ft/600L tank second hand for £600.

Personally I love the look of them, I went for mine because I'm restricted in how much wall room I have and it'll be the only truly impressive show tank I have until I buy a bigger house.
