Hi all!
So i have made a few posts on the forum lately as i am getting a new tank soon to replace one we have had for years. The tank will be a 64L interpet Fish Pod and I have two 4 year old ADF's that are going to live in it. I have wanted a Betta for years and figured with getting a new tank that rather then set up a community tank again i will finally have a Betta! I may also get a few more frogs to live in the tank, but they will be the only occupants.
Anyway i have been reading alot about Betta fish these last few weeks, and have also been looking through all the threads in this section and i had a few questions.
The first question is which is the best food brand? I know they should be given flakes/pellets daily, bloodworm and other frozen food as treats and can also have a cooked deshelled pea once a week to help with constipation, but my question is with regards to the pellets. I have seen the Betta Pro pellets mentioned alot, but what others are recommended? And also is it better to feed a mix of flakes and pellets, or can they have just pellets?
I have a plan of how i am going to set the tank up-with a piece of terrace rock in one corner filled with gravel, and then sand on the rest of the tank floor. I also intend to get a few hidey holes and will most likely be getting Water Wisteria and Moss balls. I also wanted to add some silk plants and wondered if it is ok to put red silk plants in a tank with a Betta or will that upset him? is it better to stick with green plants? Also are there any other types of plants i could take a look at getting that require low maintenance?
Another thing i have been reading about is the ZooMed floating logs-do many people have these for their Bettas? they sound like a brilliant idea, but just wondered if they actually are that good. I did read a review saying that they wear quite quickly and can start to snag their fins so to check it regularly-is it worth the risk?
Im sure i am going to have lots more questions over the next couple of weeks so i hope a dont become a pain!
I am super excited about finally entering the world of Bettas
