Getting closer to the day I start up my attempt at a planted tank, have already got:

Tank 24â€￾*12â€￾*12â€￾ - 54L
Lights, 3*24W luminary
Filter, Ecco 2232
Substrate Flourite (7kg)
Have a few ideas about plants, and am looking for just right piece of wood etc…

My question’s are:
Can you just use products like Seachem Potassium, Nitrogen etc or are you better mixing up your own fertilisers.
Also would this be a good diffuser to use with a yeast based system, until I get a presurised system.
Diffuser

Finally the CO2 system I was thinking of was
CO2 System
Thanks

Hi there.
Sounds like a good set up on the way.
You can use the Seachem products but I really would personally make up my own solutions. That way you are really in control. Use dry powders to make up your NPK and then buy a trace fertiliser. Seachem Flourish and Tropica Nutrition are a good fert.
That diffuser looks fine. Alot of pressure will need to be built up before it can come through.
That CO2 system looks good. I think other people have been interested in them too. It's strange the price is so low though. I would expect it to be higher.

If you are really new to plants and this is your very first planted tank then i would try not to over complicate this just yet. For a liquid fert i ( If I where you ) would go for something like Nutrafin PlantGrow which contains NPK and trace. I have had great success with this product, just look through my signiture links. If you want more controle and you can get your head round EI then go with dry powder, or go for Seachems seperate bottles of N P or K.

I just got that German system. Have yet to set it up. Its a bit rough at the edges. Sort of what you'd imagine a pre-`90s East German set to be though I have no idea if that is an accurate description. But I can imagine a Dupla or Dennerle set being more finely engineered. No real instructions with it but seems semi-logical along lines of another pressure system I have.

Thanks for the advice.

Will let you know how I get on, as planning to do a journal of it. Hopefully starting next week.
