Hi every one.

Ok so now my tank is empty, and I am thinking of re-stocking it as a species tank, I am thinking of going the rought of Guppies they are not my first choice but my tank is rather small it's only a 30L tank. would any one be able to give me an indication of how any guppies I could accomadate in the tank, I am not looking to bread them so I would like to only put males in because they are much nicer in colour. would it be fine to only have male.

Thanks for the advice

Just another question I am still running my filtration system untill I get teh new fish to keep the bacteria's going strong, would you still recomend a weekly 20% water change, alternitivelty I was thinking of completely emptying the tank and getting new decorations and plans and cravel and re-rrunning the fishless cycle would you think this to be a better Idea, I would keep the filter media in a bucket with some of the old water while I do the complete water change and re-decorate would I still need to run a very long fishless cyle seeing that the filtration mediam is mature and up too how long can I will the filtration media in the old water before it goes bad or the bacteria dies.

Sorry for all the question I just really want to do it right this time cause I dont want to kill any more fish :( so I am going to be doing the resourch that I can, thanking every one for there advice again

Best Regards
SB

You could have 10 males guppies in that tank as long as you keep the water clean.

If you don't have any fish in the tank currently then the bacteria will go dormant or die off. However, it will recover quite quickly when you add new fish. You could also feed the tank each day with a bit of flake food and it will produce ammonia to keep the bacteria alive. Then the day before you get the new fish, do a 90% water change and complete gravel clean. Allow the tank to run overnight and add the fish the following day.
Make sure any new water is free of chlorine and has a similar temperature & PH before it goes into the tank.
