I just added a school of 6 Emperor tetras (5 female 1 male) to my 20 gal community tank (3 Leopard Cories, 1 male betta, at the time 5 Harlequin rasbora, was going to be 8, and a bristlenose pleco) All seemed fine this morning, but when I got home I was in for a nasty surprise. The male had taken over the tank, forcing the females into a corner, the cories and betta into another corner, killed one rasbora and forced the rest into a third corner.
I didn't have another tank running to put him in, so I slipped into a betta cup with enough holes in the lid to exchange water, will upgrade to breeding net very soon.
Will solitary confinement be enough to break him, or are there other steps I should take to make sure everyone gets along when his sentence is up?
