Could I put only 1 mollie in my tank or do I need a group of them?

Don't quote me on this, but I think you can put just one molly, although they prefer to be in groups I suspect.
if you do end up getting a group, 2 males to every female, :good:
Cheers!

That is what I would say Fish48. If you are going to keep small numbers of livebearers, a preponderance of females is a good idea.

Well the problem with the females is if I buy them they would already be pregnaut so i would have more babies to get rid of which i dont want. I think i'll skip the Mollies.

With mollies and swords you should only have 1 male or a ratio of 1male to 2 femlaes. This is due to them being very active and quarrelsome fish if you only have males.

However with guppies and platies you can have just male groups

Pfft my Platys squabble. Though I've come to the conclusion one is just wuss :grr:

thanks for the advise, but I'll just skip all the livebeares, they seem to perfer groups and i'm looking for a soliatry fish that is peacful. Sorry if this is a wrong place to ask this but do you guys know any fish that are peacful that can live solitary in a 10 gallon tank?

For a single fish in a small tank, have a look at a nice Betta splendens. They can't be kept in numbers but they seem to be OK on their own. I keep mine in a 45 gallon endler tank, but most people would consider that a bit of a strange place for a betta.

Or you could keep a Honey Gourami on their own. They're very peaceful and can live in 10 gallons.

Actully I made my desision, 1 dwarf gourami, thankyou for your help.
