i know a solenoid is an electro-magnet, but how do they work are they programmed? ive heard of them being fitted to the lights. but how would i do this do they go into a plug unit or something? im just so confused about solenoids and i cant find anything.

solenoids are fitted to timers, when it is switched off, it closes the valve and CO2 is cut off and vice versa.

Not sure about them being fitted to lights, do you mean timers?

oh ok, its just on one site i heard they can be connected on the same ciruicts as the lights, so when the lights go of so does the solenoid.

but a timer makes it all clear now, god so obvious

Is the mentioned setup meant to cut off the CO2 when the lights go off? I can see solenoids being hooked up to the lighting if this is the case. Easier to use two separate timers though, IME.

If someone wires them up to the lights they are not doing as most do. Most people time the CO2 to come on an hour or 2 before the photoperiod and to end a similar time before the end of the photoperiod.

Tom Barr is the only person I know that starts and stops at the same time as the lights. That should therefore mean it is OK but then Tom will know exactly what CO2 he is putting in where as all we know is errrr DC is green so 2 hours ago I was at 20-30ppm. lol
