Hi I come accross a few topics over the internet about Co2 refills etc and was looking into getting a compact system as I dont really want to have big bottles of co2 soo... I looked around and yes the tiny cartridges 3oz or something ridiculous like £10 a throw. I have a soda stream and I can locally exchange refills for it in various shops for £10 and its considerably larger bottle like 60 litres. The only thing is they use a non standard thread and having no knowledge of pressurised systems or thread sizes I found this website to be the best bet to convert the cheap bottles.

In the basket the adapter for the soda-stream is £30 all the other stuff is needed but could I locate it elsewhere cheaper?

thanks

That was what I was going to do. I got a regulator and the adapter (same as your looking at) from eBay, but didn't end up doing it as getting a fire extinguisher is far more cheeper and will last longer.

What size tank are you going to use these little bottles on?

Hi, its only on my 50L tank so wont need a lot of co2, I relise the big bottles are prob cheaper in the long run. I considered the soda-stream as I have argos just down the road so I can easily get a new bottle there and then without having to lug around a bigger bottle. The pricing didnt seem to bad as the bottles are a lot larger then the poxy things that come with the kits and the refills are the same price.

cheers

Edit: I may consider a fire extinguisher, if its small because its going in my room and I live @home with my parents atm so I don't think they would be too pleased with a big bottle in my room lol. I have no idea where I would get it refilled or exchanged though living in cornwall. I just want something small and portable that can be kept out of the way.

If it's easier for you to use the little soda streem ones then go for it :).

But the FE option is cheaper. You can get differnt size FE bottles you don't have to have a massive one. I think you can go to a welding shop and get one of there bottles as well. Well I haven't re-filled mine, but a mate has and it was £15 for a re-fill of a 3KG bottle. But you can buy a new bottle for about £20-£25 I think. That's if you can't find any where to re-fill it.

Thank you, I will consider as it does seem cheap :), I will have to find a source for refill and consider my options. :good:

cheers
