Thanks! Can you help me figure out the type bulb I should get? My tank is 18" tall and the light never quite seems to get all the way to the plants. I can't wrap my head around the different types (daylight, aquarium, etc.) or how many lumens I should have. I just made myself dizzy typing all that.

Well for starters. Make sure to get the right kind of bulb. Weather that be T8 or T5, Then get the right wattage for the ballast.
 
If you think the light isn't reaching the tank it may be time for a upgrade?

It's a T8 in there now.
