I have placed all my Female mollies and swordtails in one tank.(about 8).
One Molly especially is fat with young but how fat until birth?

I keep seperating her one day and the next although fat her belly seems to have deflated and then its up again the next.
How do you know. You can't always look for the black spot in a Black molly!

Also, is it possible if she gives birth at night could they all be eaten by morning?
Can it be that quick?

Thanks

I had some red platties drop last night. She stayed at the top of the tank in some leaves. Also had a guppie drop a few days ago and she did the same stayed at the top until she dropped.Saw both of them give birth its really good to see them drop.I left the plattie last night still giving birth and this morning could only see a couple left ,so they do get eaten really quickly.Managed th transfer about 15 last night into my nursey tank.

It's very possible for all the fry to be eaten overnight. It's also possible that most of them are eaten and a few are hiding somewhere. For some reason my Molly always balloons up huge and shrinks down the next day, slowing growing until she looks like she is about to burst. Then she drops the fry.

How much are you feeding the fish? Fish can grow off of large feedings sometimes, especially if they're constipated. Feed a bit of peas to make them poo.
