In a tank I'm about to set up, this is what I am planning...

tank:
30gal
sand substrate (prob white and black sand mixed bc the black sand here is $20 for a small bag!),
3-4 caves/hidey-holes,
exchanging fake plants for real ones if the lighting will be sufficient (it's not on my 20gal), so I'm not sure what exact plants there will be. Plan on putting caves and plants at both ends/sides of tank, plants along back, and leaving middle open for swimming.

stocking:
1 angel
1 banded or pearl gourami
1 pr blue rams
6-8 harlequins
5 cories
possibly 1 fm krib (if she'll behave herself)

So, any opinions? Advice?
Thanks in advance!

Sounds pretty good although Im not to sure about the angel. S/he probably won't get along with the gourami. Not to sure about the harlequins either - possibilty they could be eaten. You could stand maybe a few more bottom fish - some of the small-medium laoches possibly? Just a thought. Or up the number of cories up. Will want some pics when its all up and running!
*EDIT* The GBR's could also get nasty if they decide to spawn. Just keep that in mind.

well, I've read/heard that angels are very territorial when breeding, and that the chances of getting 2 females are a gamble as you can't really sex them. So, I was thinking that if I got one young one, and added it with the gourami at the same time, then maybe they'd be ok.
As for the rams, they are already breeding! :D Luckily, though, they aren't too nasty... just a little chase away from the babies. (They're in a 20-gal with harlies and cories right now. I'm going to move them all into the 30 when it's set up.)

I may add some kuhli loaches, then, if you think they'd be ok. A group of 4 be ok?

eta: if someone else knows better about the angel, please let me know. I don't want to do something that's bound to fail.
