So Whaddya Think........

Dimensions 48" x 16" x 16

Volume 201 l./44 gal. (53.1 US gal.)

Probable volume 181 l./40 gal. (48 US gal.)
It will be a lot less with all that rock, around 150 to 160ltr at a guess, i have a 150ltr setup that ended up as 130ltr when the rock went in.
I would empty the tank (borrow a load of buckets) and note down how much it takes to fill it back up for future reference, treatments and stuff.

Stocking density 40"/102cm (built up gradually)
Maximum density 80"/203cm (theoretical maximum)

You can heavily stock but you will need a large filter and decent size water changes to compensate for the high fish load and waste, chiclids are messy fish.

Nice sam like it all.
Still got the fluval4 or do you have an external now, you have hidden your heater nicely got the fry out then where are they now.

yea the fluval 4 is still in there its jus off the pic to the left. i put the heater down that side panel too so it is kinda hidden.

i wanted the tank back so i moved all the fry to a hex tank i had spare.

was such a pain in the arse catchin over 40 of em lol.

didnt cost me anything.

Lucky git! All that lot would probably cost an arm and a leg to buy.

yea i kno hehe. i went to my LFS and was looking at slate and even that was a bomb to buy.

thanx for that :D . will help alot!

How do you clean something like that with all those rocks in place, same with marine tanks & coral, Im guessing you dont lift it all out on each gravel vac, just go around it?

good question!

my plan is jus do to plenty of water changes and keep outside the rocks as clean as possible.

there is a fair few gaps and stuff in the rocks so i will be able to get a vac in there.......

anybody got any other ideas???

got this tank for xmas and originally i had sandstone in there.

well after reading and finding out this was unsuitable i went and fetched a load of limestone.

jus wondering what you guys think so far?

thanx.

the pics were taken with my phone, hence the cloudy look and dodgy quality.

that will be a nice looking tank when full of fish; will have to post more pics when complete :hyper:
