So, I Just Ranted At My University For Animal Cruelty.....

Allright lads.

I think I've gone crazy here - in my Archaeology building there are 2 decorative marble ponds; each contain several large fancy goldfish. Although the ponds are well filtrated and spacious they lack any objects or plantlife whatsoever. Naturally I was livid, and 10 minutes ago I just posted an angry email to the School of Geography/Archaeology/Palaeocology demanding that they spend a minimum of £30 on plants like Elodea to spruce up the fishes habitat.
I also gave reasons for it, from the plants making natural boundaries for territories (resulting in less aggression) and potential hiding places for the fish.
To conclude, I said that they are animals like us that deserve the right to a decent quality of life, and that the fact that this wasnt picked up on before was plain irresponsible.

.......I blame you all for teaching me about fish, and making me into the fish fanatic I am today ¬_¬

I'll also blame you all if I get turfed out of University for this =P

Well I also advised adding large stones to the tank to break it up too; hopefully theyll do that at any rate!

your proposal If you could come up with a concrete suggestion that would be
very low maintenance and if it is not too costly then we could perhaps fund

Some lily- type plants in pots could be good solution, provides a bit of cover and shade but are fairly goldfish proof.

I've also advised adding larger rocks (which can literally be picked up off the street). However I also advised them to boil them 1st, and maybe do a vinegar test.

You could contact a website, see if they would be interested in sponsoring it, just for a few plants and have a plaque saying "these plants were donated by ....."
Being as its Queens and a lot of people would see it, £60-£100 worth of plants is nothing for that ammount of advertisement.

Umm, maybe this community would be willing? =P

I think that the only things needed would be the aforementioned stone and large leafy plants/some surface lilies or whatever (to make a partial canopy).
