So I Found 2 Fry!

so i found 2 fry in my 10 gallon

the livebearers in my tank are 5 wagtail platys and 1 black swordtail and 1 clear/ginger swordtail

the platys were added yesterday and none looked pregnant but then again neither did the swordtails!

but these fry are clear with some black on the tail

so im lost!

are platys born with colour? because if so the i may know who the mother is!

They usually show a hint of their final color but do not have well developed color when first born MewMew.

They can sometimes. But usually they are a light yellow when born.

You will have to wait until they have got their full colour before you can do this, even then it is fairly difficult in the community aquarium if you have a lot of fish, as livebearers are capeable of storing sperm for six months meaning variations in the offspring from the same parent as it has sperm stored from all the fish it has mated with in that 6 months.

If there's black on the tail in a newborn fry it will be a wagtail platy.
