So Heres The Thing

Well I shall ask him, he is usually pretty helpful, although they are only insured to get it to the front door, so maybe once in he wont be able to help, we shall keep our fingers crossed.

Not the best idea, you could break the seal and possibally drop the glass.....
It would have to be a last resort, Where you would need a few pairs of hands...
Seriously just beg the blokes to take it striaght into room....wear a short skirt and low cut top hehe :hey:

yes i know, but usually they feel sorry for you, my sister got them to put her sofa in lounge splitting sofa in two then after they screwed it back together again,,,,just act simple and stupid but nice and polite begging to a degree

Ah I shall get the chainsaw out then

You thought I was joking :shifty: If you can't get it in any other way, you can cut the tank into 5 glass pains and then re-assemble it in the room with silicone, a couple of pair of hands e.t.c... This said, I have built tanks before and wouldn't think much of it. If you've never built a tank before, you probibly would need prefessional help to sort that sort of thing out...

We have tried knocking the banisters out though!!!! My landlady will love me

Do you really think we could get away with up-ending it then? I dont want to throw £500 down the drain.

Up-ending a 5ft tank with 3 pairs of hands will be near impossible, so get some help first. It took me and 3 other people to up-end my 4fter and even then it was a struggle...

All the best
Rabbut

Having never built a tank that prospect scares me witless, think I will leave that well alone.

I have devised a cunning plan.........by this time tomorrow I shall let you know if its worked, that is of course assuming Im not laid flat on my back on the floor from slipping a disc in my back again!!! I know its gonna happen, so Im prepared.

Does your cunning plan involve any demolition balls??? If it deos not then thats just plain old boring Mags!!

Guessing my postage stamp sort of reveals itself as pretty insignificant with an issue like this!! Hope all goes well, keep us informed!

Whatever the result is, please post about it. I have this very worry for when I get a larger 100gal tank (6 feet long) in about a year or so. It has to go downstairs with the other tanks, but to get down there, we'll have to carry it down a flight of stairs, then immediately, somehow, pivot through a doorway. Kinda like a hallway with a door at the end. I can't remember if we had trouble moving the 4f tank (darnit, why wasn't I paying attention?)

Well todays the day, Im up really early (cant you tell), in fact I havent slept a wink. I shall let you know how it goes.

John, believe me your stamp is the very least of my probs  And if I had wrecking ball to hand, it would be my next option

Just caught this thread and I am now nervous.

Other than the idea about dismantling and re building the tank which I would go for, Man Power is the key grease the gravy train with a few notes (money get plenty of help

Oh bed linen to protect the cabinet ? I would go with plenty of card board boxes cut them up so there flat fantastic impact and protective stuff.

Take your time .

Good luck buddy :good:

Looking forward to reading your set up diary :good:

Unf*****believable, the courier company have just called me to say that they have just checked the tank before bringing it to me (at the request of the company I bought it from) to discover one whole panel is cracked!!! So now I have to wait god knows how long for them to order another one and get it out to me. I am furious to say the least.

Edit: Just spoken or should I say moaned my bum off to the company supplying this tank and insisted on Saturday delivery, as apologetic as they are, this is no consolation to me or my fish. So the wait continues.

Oh Minx!!

I better your furious!! I know I would be.....but I suppose it's better that the courier found it was broken this time and not you. I think you would of been well p'd off if it had been delivered and then you found it damaged.

Hope you get your new new new tank soon,
Leanne

Thanks Leanne, I tell you what, Ive had a good cry (stupid I know) and I feel slightly calmer now :) Im just so annoyed as the fish need to moved asap they are starting to get a little cramped in their tank, plus I have a load of new plants which arent looking great in the tank as well as the lighting isnt sufficient for them, of course they were all ordered thinking they would be in the new tank by now. Im beginning to wish I hadnt bothered and gone for another tank or different company, but Ive never had a problem using them before.

If this next one turns up with any problems, I shall demand a refund and go somewhere else because its beyond a joke now.

All keep your fingers crossed please, say a few prayers etc

I must admit I think I would be pulling my hair out by now!!

I'll cross my fingers and eyes for you hun
Leanne

I've moved plenty of large tanks, many of them not my own, up on end. Haven't heard of anyone having a problem doing this. As long as you are as careful as you would normally be with any other tank move it shouldn't pose a problem.
