So, Guppy Fry Jump Then!

I was trying to transfer a beautiful red/yellow/orange/black guppy fry from from my guppy overflow tank to my main tank as a replacement to my similar coloured male who succumbed to my mysterious guppy illness when it jumped out of my net and on to the floor. This was a total distance of about 4 feet... What made matters worse is it jumped quite a long way from where I was standing and it took me at least a minute to find the poor chap

I was sure it would be dead or dying but it is now swimming around the main tank (albeit in a very subdued way). I hope he will be ok as he is the pick of the bunch of fry that I have...

Has anyone done anything similar or am I just clumsy?

I Did a revamp of my old 4ft tank and my fish in a bucket, my Red tail shark jumped out and i stood on it.... twas not a good day.

Yeah, when I was moving my fish from the 26 litre to the 2ft'er my guppies tried to do lemming impressions too. They do jump and they can jump a long way.
I remember when I was a kid my Dad's tank got a leak and he had to leave the fish in a bucket next to the Aga over night to keep them warm. My brother got up early for work next morning and slipped on something ... turned out the catfish had tried to escape the bucket during the night ... as far as I remember it survived!!

Wow, that must have been a sturdy fish!

It's a good 20-odd year ago now so the memory is a bit faded but if I remember rightly my brother was in his bare feet and put his foot on something cold and slipped in his freak out moment. The kitchen floor at home was (and still is lol) red quarry tiled so how the thing didn't die of cold before my brother put his foot on it I just don't know! It was a big bruiser of a catfish - massive whiskers .. think it could've been a pictus but I'm not certain. We had a few over the years lol

My bicir did this to me when he was about 2 inches long. He is around 8 now.
