Sneaking Fish On A Plane...

hehehehe they think everything is a potential bomb these days. my husband and i are going on a two hour plane trip on monday and i was speaking to the airline when i booked and basically i think ill just leave everything i own in my suitcase as there are just too many things you cant take on anyway. gets kinda ridiculous i feel but its better to be safe than sorry

Not worth the bother imho...

everything is a potential bomb - they were wondering where my earphones were because I had an MP3 player (I like to have a bit better sound quality and use a bit more expensive earphones, so they were in a bag that was next to the MP3 player)...

although it could have been coincidence, when I went to france with my school, me and 2 of my friends (indian (me as well) and chinese) were always stopped for 'random' bag checks at the metal detectors, and my main suitcase was always last to come out of the sorting place lol

I've heard people fetch fish in on planes and the fish ended up being destroyed.

No.
Can't remember what fish they were but they wouldn't let him take the fish as he didn't have a licence.
Plus most of them were dying it was awful.
It was on airport or something just remember it.

Airline Security Guard: Do you realize it's illegal to smuggle an unquarantined animal on a plane?
Passenger: Animal? What are you talking about?
Airline Security Guard: The IS an animal in that bottle is it not?
Passenger: No it's not.
Airline Security Guard: Realllllllyyyyyy. Well what is it then?
Passenger: My dinner.

hehehehehe. The whole idea just brings up soooo many ideas as to how it could go lol.

Nope, Once, we were bringing a bottle of apple juice on the plane and they made me drink it to see if it was like poison or sumthing. You definetley shouldn't risk it.

Just ask them if you can bring your pet fish. They are going to allow you to bring your dog in the main compartment with you soon, they probably won't have a huge problem with a fish will they? make sure you ask though - read below story for one persons experience....

The day I smuggled my betta home!

Customs can be VERY funny with people transporting livestock and plants etc, I once went from America to Mexico and back to America.
We took a sort of picnic to have on the way there as it was a long Greyhound ride and amongst our food, we took a bag of apples. Well, neither of us ate any after we arrived, prefering to eat the local food (which was nasty) and so when we went home, I put all our possessions back in the bag, including packing another picnic to take back with us for the ride - including the same apples.

Well, the border guard on the US side arrested my apples.

I tried to tell him they were American apples, they had not been out of our room in the week we were there, they clearly were marked as American produce and they were in their original HEB bag. But he arrested my apples and threw them in the bin while we stood there. I felt like a horrible smuggler and an idiot, AND I was cross cos he took our apples off us.

Unless you make sure first, I wouldn't try it, it would suck to have picked a beautiful fish and then have to go bog-wash him because you weren't properly prepared. I'd contact the airline and get a letter saying you can travel with your fish.

Betta's are a dime a dozen they are everywhere, easy to buy, very common fish, a variety of colours

Edit: therefore just go LFS or order one on net.

haha...clever but sneaky!
If you really want them you can ship them to your place the day you leave (or the day before) at the local post office in Hong Kong. It would be cheaper to get some off ebay or something though.
