Hi,
Im considering chucking some snails into my musk turtle tank...As you could imagine turtles are messy buggers,so i would like to chuck some snails in there with them just to pick some of left over food up.. What do you suggest peeps?? Plus! Can i put any little fishies in there with them? or will they gobble em up?? thanks for reading! Hope to hear from you!

Maybe someone who is an expert or has experience with turtle tanks will come along but if not... I suspect that it is not good to assume that other creatures such as snails will be a very significant help in maintaining tank like that. The natural habitats of all these sorts of animals are vast (stop and think about the gallons of water in the spaces around the edge of ponds and lakes and perhaps the flow of fresh water coming in and the size of the bogs that filter things.) Our tanks are tiny by comparison and our artificial habitat becomes stale very rapidly. I don't what the good habits are for turtles but for fish the "weekly water change" process is quite important and is by far the main way that excess food is kept in check.

This is not to say there's anything wrong with snails (or even certain fish if others think they might be ok with these particular turtles and if the stocking volumes are ok) necessarily, just something to think about in terms of the expectations.
