Snails?

I recently asked in chat about my snails i have in my tank and been told its most probally off my plants.

Ive taken 3 pictures the best i could, could any id thease and are they safe to be in with my fish, has i cannot seem to get rid of them all, ive today taken 6 out.


Whats the best way and safest way to totally remove thease snails, has they are slowly muching there way through my plants?


I hope some one can help.

I have had the same. 2 options. 1 snail killer treatment but read the instructions well

secondly get assassin snail. they will eat the small snails

Ok if i got a assassin snail would it eat my plants? if i just got one? and will this assasin snail not produce babys and ill have more?

And for the snail killer treatment ive heard bad things and wouldnt want to try it really

Also would a apple snail be any good and same questions would it eat plants and produce babys ? or will it eat all babys?

I dont want to be getting plants alot has the snails are muching on them and spoling the plants health etc etc

Possibly the worst snail pics I have ever seen. No offence.

The good news for you is that snails DO NOT EAT HEALTHY PLANTS. Your plants have leaves that are probably dying, and this what the snails will be eating. The one and only disadvantage to having snails in a planted tank is if you don`t like them. Otherwise they do an excellent cleaning up job. If your plants have holes appearing in them, then there is a deficiency of some kind.

People should cut snails some slack, IMO.

There is bit's of plants missing and bits of my floating frogbit has holes where they have been muching on it, this is the reason i would like to completly get rid off the little snails?

Hope there is some way? Am i best just to keep removing them has i see them?

P.S will apple snails also eat the little snails? or would i need a assasin snail?

Assassin snails just eat the snails. very good. i have 2 of them.

apple snails only eat dead leaves etc. i have around 200 of them. (they had babies)

Snails DO NOT eat healthy plants. They are you doing you a service by recycling rotting plant matter. Look at your plant care, not the snails.

ok thankyou, its just the frogbit witch is getting holes in the healthy leaves? and always see the snails on them underneath the frogbit leaves.

All rest seem to be great just the frogbit the snails seem to be eating.


And yes i could possibly get the assasin snail, thanks for that tip
