Hi, I'm looking for any stockists of decent, unusual snails.

I've only found The Snail Shop (mostly 'out of stock') and AE (not a great deal of choice).

Does anyone know of any decent online outlets either Uk or europe? I have googled and googled and can't find anything!

Cheers

Depends what you are after. For ramshorns and other small snails, many members are more than happy to send them out in a jiffy bag for the cost of postage, however if you are after bigger, then it can be more of a problem. Best bet is to just keep an eye out in your LFS's

You could ask at pets at home, most with OATA qualified staff will order things in for people if they can't find them anywhere

Cheers - I'm after blue or purple strains of the apple snail if that helps!

For other strains of apples deffo post on the But or sell section of the forum, i saw several people selling them there a while ago!
Good luck!

I just ordered 5 each of two types of nerites (Zebra and Rod Spotted). They will not reproduce in freshwater, but they are an excellent alage eater, or so I have read. These are the coolest looking snails that can be kept in a freshwate planted tank IMO.

Yes - they are good looking. I think the eggshell blue and the purple striped apples are better though - and they will breed in freshwater tanks too.

Have a look on Ebay. I could buy them all day long on Ebay here in the US.

[Edit] A quick check on EbayUK shows that they do sell the purple, pink, and ivory as well as the more common golden and wild varieties.

Alas - the same, no blues or purples on either sites.........

Oh well, I'll wait a bit longer.
