guys,

I am half way through a fishless cycle (1 week) and all was going well until i have just noticed i have around half a dozen little snails slithering around in my tank!!!!!!!!

I did take some bogwood from my lfs two pieces one of which had a plant growing in it...

I presume that the infestation came from this however I dont want them, how do i get rid of them??????

Help....!

Phil

copper sulfate is the chemical solution or you could bait them using some veg place in the tank turn off the lights wait an hour remove veg+snails happily eating and replace keep doing this every night for a week you should get them all. You could also ask your LFS if you can borrow a clown loach or dwarf puffer to eat them all then return fully fed and in good condition.

Not very good advice at all!

Any copper treatment should be the very last course of treatment for any condition suggested, not the first!

Also, as for suggesting putting fish in a tank that is one week into a fishless cycle therefore having up to around 6 ppm of ammonia is plain madness

As the OP is doing a fishless cycle I would suggest just removing the snails as they appear over the 6 weeks or so that it will take to complete the cycle and as no food will be added then they will eventually be irradicated.
