Are there any good species of snails that are good with mbuna? I do want to get some synodontis but i have a thing for snails :hyper:

Also are they affected by water quality IE ph?

If it helps...

With my tanganikyans I keep 'nerite' snails, they're a black colour with yellowy/gold stripes.

I think they're so succesfful mainly due to the fact that not a lot of them is exposed, if you compared them to for example Apple snails where most the head is out in the open.

ps-

I keep synodontis petricola and they're fine with them, i have some malawi demasoni in my tank... which are cheeky little fellows, occasionally flipping the snails over, but not enough to damage them.

Most mbuna will eat snails, and they are quite good at it. I used to throw in some malasian trumpet snails as a treat and the mbuna would suck them right out of their shells. While there are always exceptions to the rule, I would say that any snails would almost certainly be eaten. :good:
