When adding snails to a mid-size aquarium, will the fact that they clean up a lot of waste inside outweigh how much waste they produce, or vice versa? I've got 3 leopard ramshorns coming to me and I don't know whether they are going to create more or erradicate more waste? I'm thinking, surely something that eats x amount of waste, we reproduce x amount of waste too?

i dont think they would actually eat waste. more likely would be the left over food at the bottom.

They dont eat waste. They eat algae and left over food. So what ever waste they produce is added just like a fish.

you may find them digging around in poo and think that they eat poop, but they just dissolve it in the water column and pick out undigested stuff.

Oops, I so badly explain this didn't I. I didn't mean waste as in poo, I meant waste as in uneaten food. So my question should have been what's worse - waste decaying food or snail poo!

Hmm... not to sure tbh. If you don't overfeed your lil fish there won't be any waste :D

Well I feed them once a day and they are well and truly finished within the 5 minutes, I also fast them 1 day a week.

I was just wondering really :D
