I decided to plant my sister's 2.5 gallon tank and I got some anarchis and a few snails snuck on and they are reproducing. Now my question is will they eat the plants since they are common snails or are they ok if there are a few in there? Thanks

Austin

well we need to know exactly what kind of snails are they..?

but yes, any snail will eat plants if there is no food for them.

ew... you definitely want to get rid of those asap. they reproduce exponentially, and within a month, you will have over 100 of them. they come in on the plants, which are then sold... and then surprise!!! SNAILS GALORE!!! lol. i would recommend "had-a-snail", a product that kills off the snails but leaves plants and fish unharmed. good luck...

although snails reproduce quicky, they are not all bad. if kept well fed (overfeeding the fish a little will result in food left over for the snails) they make an exellent algea cleaner. malaysian trumpet snails, for ex, will areate the sand in the aquarium, getting rid of toxic gases that might form under the substrate. it really depends...

Humm I've got common tank snails and they are absolutely no probs with my plants, even delicate ones like HC. Also if you feed them they will multiply, and if you've got millions then you're overfeeding the fish. The best method of control is not to over feed the fish, but you'll never get rid of 100% of them no matter how hard you try.

Ok I believe they are just common pond snails and I just wanted to make sure they won't eat the plants. Thanks for the input, I think I'll just let them be and remove by hand when I see some.
