Snails And Shrimps

Hi,
My new tank is coming on nicely (330l cube), are snails and shrimps a good addition? I have a sand base and a good number of plants, the base does get a bit dirty, would they help?

depending on the type of snail and if its a ready (easy to become a pest) breeder they may take valuable calcium away from the shrimp who need it for thier excoskelaton every time they moult. Also some shrimp can start picking at the shells of snails.
