For those of you who reed PFK, will have seen the article on snails. While very interesting and factual I still can’t identify my snails. Mine came with some plants I bought a Wile ago, they only come out at night so identifying is difficult? Has any one got any pics and names for one with cone shaped shells? PKF describes two types with these shells one a friend one a foe, and I really need to now who to tell the difference.

There are snail pics in the pinned topics in the inverts section. If they are cone shaped and out at night they are most likely Malaysian trumpet snails. I have just added these to my tanks to aeriate the sand and they are one of the good snails to have as they don't eat plants. They will quickly take over a tank if you overfeed though. Pond snails are the ones to avoid.
