About 2 weeks ago I started seeing a few small snails and now there are more popping up from time to time. I have about 12 in my tank now maybe even more. What type of snail is this and are they possibly a pest?

It's a physid snail, common names pond snails, tadpole snails, bladder snails. They can become pests if their numbers grow out of control. The best way to stop this is by limiting their food. Don't overfeed the fish; clean the bottom of the tank to remove the debris.
Some members disagree, but snails are an important part of a tnak's ecosystem - as long as they don't take over.

See the first snail in this thread for more info

The snails will continue to reproduce, most likely very quickly. They are a pest if you don’t want a tank full of snails!

I agree with the above. They can be cool, but they are annoying over time.

I have a growing colony of these little pests...they are quite pretty, but they are multiplying quite quickly !
I was surprised to see them on eBay 100+ for about £18.... who would be buying these and what for?

If you think you might not want them in the future, take them out now while their numbers are still low

Agree with above. Also look for any eggs on glass or plants.
