can i put in a snail? i have no filtration and therefor probably no oxygen.... how do snails breathe? can i put one in?

well im not sure but I believe they have a 'snorkle' that they use to breathe from the surface? Could be way off....I had snails but they are messy and a hassle...my soul opinion....

but one thing I do like is in my 2g bowls I have a betta and a dwarf cory....I love them and they do a wonderful job of cleaning! Plus my bettas are not bothered by them...(Only one of them out of 11 cant have one with him) the first introduction is always awakward for the betta but after a half hour or so they just completely ignore each other... :)

hope this helps

Snails can produce a TON of waste (believe me, I've seen my trapdoor snail poop before! Its not pretty... ) so aren't really good for small bowls. Snails don't need filteration to live BUT without it your tank will get messy quickly. If you really want to get a snail then I would suggest upgrading to a 5 gallon.

Lady- Does your bowl have filteration? Cories need filteration, and I'm pretty sure the dwarf variety need a heater, too. Also, they are shoaling fish and MUST be kept in groups. Unfortunatly, a 2 gallon bowl is only suited for 1 betta. I would suggest you put all your cories together in a larger tank with filteration, and I'm sure other members on here will agree with me. :)

A 2 gallon tank is too small for anything other than a betta, imho, especially since most other fish prefer other members of thier species.

But, that isn't the question being asked.

I had a snail - just a snail - in a filtered 2.5 gallon tank. And by the end of the week, even with a partial water change, it reeked to high heaven and was so full of feces that I had to start doing full water changes twice a week.

Do not do it. Your betta will get sick or die from all of the waste in his water.

ok thanks guys! so any suggestions? no dwarf cories, but anything else? if not o-well. just trying to be more lazy! hahahaha

its in a mini aquarium (guessing its about 2 gallons) it has filters and a 8 watt heater my corys are little bitty babies right now :) ( about the size of my thumb nail SO CUTE) I have about 4 babies in my mini aquariums and I plan on putting them in a 10g in a week or so when it gets into the lfs (I had to order one :/ )

Is this okay? at least for a week or so? If not what can I do till my tank gets here...they seemed fine?

scott may i reccomend african dwarf frogs they get on fine with bettas an are great lil guys jus make sure you dont get an african clawed frog   you must be careful it is an adf wen buyin theyre great

those frogs, they don't bother the fish at all? what are needed for them in the tank? and what size tank do you think would be best?

2 gal really isn't large enough for anything but the betta. besides, unless you choose snails carefully, your cute little snail may wind up like my first snail:

she was the size of your snail when i bought her

OMG I know, they get soooo huge, I have one that's at least 1.5cm, I think it's making babies lol.

ADF's are the most awesome froggies ever! They don't need a whole lot. They can live without a filter no problem, but you have to clean them more because they are quite messy. I love to keep them in communities, they are way more fun to watch that way. They look so bored and lonely by themselves:( As for food, mine eat stapled flakes that are like in a pill and you can buy them at the lfs. And yes make sure you don't get an african clawed... that wouldn't be so good.

In my opinion you could probably put a betta and 2 frogs in a 5.5 g. That's my opinion not advice though.
