Hi im recommending botia striata if u have a snail problem i your tank

they have cleaned my tanks of any snails pretty quickly. not one left in sight

the botia doesnt grow huge, peacefull also. so is perfect for community tanks.

and is a really nice looking fish as well!

so excellent all round :good:

Yes I agree. :good:

I took one of these from someone here that went entirely over to marine and after about a week I realized my earlier snail problems had gone, lock-stock and shells  Reckon they must go for the eggs too

Damn handsome fish too and I would dearly love to have another but no LFS around me stocks 'em

A clown loach will do the trick

A clown loach will do the trick

there not as good as made out to be.

and not many people who can look after clown loachs properly

They will, but as suggested by Rocknurworld, they tend to be the worst choice out of the common loaches for snail control.

They need at least a tank in the 100gal size range as they can easily reach 6-7" in a fairly short time-frame and will max out above a foot. As with all loaches, you need to get a group of them for them to fee comfortable. That's a huge amount of tank space for "snail control."

botia almorhae/lohachata, botia striata, botia dario, and botia kubotai are all insanely better choices for just about all aquariums. They are all 1/3-1/2 the max size of a clown loach.

love love love my Botia kubotai
They're the most beautiful
and you can recognize individuals by their unique spots and patterns, plus you can tell their relative ages by the spots and patterns as well.
and yes, i no longer see any mts since i got my loaches.
another bonus: they don't bother nerites, shrimp or plants at all.
no digging or uprooting anything.
