Smallest Tank?

Do you run a tank under 10 litres?

  • People keep tanks that small, are you crazy?!

I am a few months into my first nano aquarium now, and finding it quite easy to keep running well, now that it is established. Actual water volume is probabaly nearer 6.5 litres after substrate/plants/decor.

After a few initial problems, and establishing a proper routine, I am finding nano keeping very rewarding!

Anyone else run anything of a similar size, what do you keep in it, and what is your routine?

Currently, I am growing out shrimp from a recent batch (somewhere around 30 of them I think), and a Rainbow fish fry that came in accidentally with some plants as an egg! Oh, and an Assasin snail to keep the unwanted snail population down.

20cm glass cube, with an 8 litre capacity.
Boyu WF-2015 filter
Arcadia - ArcPod 9W
JBL Manado subtrate

Water changes twice a week, 2 litres capacity, new water comes from the filtered drinking water fountain.
Done using a 2 litre water bottle and airline tubing.

I add a tiny drop of Nutrafin "Plant Gro" every week, and also add two drops of Easylife "Easycarbo" weekly. This helps keeps the plants healthy.

No, my smallest tank is a 21 litre hexagonal and is my Betta's home. Anything less and I'd find it hard to keep good water quality/stability. I am looking to get a slightly bigger tank and a regular size, as the hex is hard to keep clean.
