Hello

Hope your all well - everything's been going well in my new tank - water has remained perfect and I'm doing my weekly water changes.

Fish are all doing really well but I've noticed a parasite in my tank and they are spreading - looks like a small leech like thing with small black dot on it back - they come in various small sizes... 2mm approx.

I went to my LFS to see if there was anything I could add anything to get rid of them and advised me they were harmless and to continue with substrate cleaning.

My concern is the fishes health as the little critters are all over my plants and a don't want to lose them

Could anyone advise me on what's best to get rid of them?
Thanks
Jack ;)

Can you get a pic?  Or check this link for an id...

If they are leeches they could be any number of varieties/ species some leeches attack fish, others snails and the more typical ones go for mammals.
Could what you are seeing be planeria?

If they are leeches I had suscess with manually removing them, throwing away my gravel and plants. And when the leeches where attached to some shrimp I got I salt water bathed the shrimp. Thankfully I only used a mild salt bath and the shrimp where tolerant of such brackish water, and it was only until the leeches dropped of the shrimp then I put the shrimp back into fresh water.

Sorry guys for the late reply - been a a busy and my camera is broke - unfortunately my phone camera is rubbish too- after my tank clean last week i saw a reduction in the little critters but they are back and growing in numbers again

Looked at the links you gave me and did a little research - think the critter may be Ich - they are oval shaped - clear coloured with a little dot on back - suckers on glass.

Really want to get rid of them - any thoughts
Many thanks
Jack

Also meant to say I was wondering where I picked up these little critters and the only thing I can think of that changed before I got them was dried bloodworm I was using from the LFS - do you think they could have came from there?

Thanks

Might be wrong here - no white spots on fish for now

Really confused now

Hello

Finally got a photo - sorry about the delay

Still confused as to what these are but the numbers are growing in my tank

They are oval shaped - white see through

I read that maybe white spot meds might removes these
Any advice is much appreciated
Thanks
Jack

If you look at the plant and side of the tank and the background you can see smaller ones on the vine of plant
