Went into my LFS a week or so ago and snapped a picture of a plant they had in their "plants" tank. The forum ID'd it as a Cryptocoryne Wendtii "Red". I went back in tonight and bought it. The girl working sold it to me as a "small crypt" for a grand whopping total of $5.99 (What I paid for a portion of Cryptocoryne Spiralis that is literally 1/10th the size).

Well... This crypt had a particularly rough looking root system. Laid out flat, it had roots that were 30cm+ long. And the roots at the base were a massive tangle. As I started to pick at the base of the plant, I realized that it was as rough as it was because it had TONS of daughter plants attached. I started picking at it....

When all was said and done, I had:
-1 x 20cm tall crypt, with a MASSIVE root system
-5 x 10cm tall crypts
-15 x 5-7cm tall crypts

These guys are spread ALL over my 46 gallon (after I filled in the space I had allotted for it, I took over any open space at the front to try to grow out the smaller crypts), and then put any I couldn't fit into my planted 5 gallon.

This "small" crypt was supposed to be a "large" crypt and sold for $19.99. I'm so glad I picked it up. If I can keep the tiny daughters I pulled off alive, I plan to take them with my 15 gallon and redistribute the rest of the crypts once they grow a little.. maybe sell them back to the LFS at some point :p.
