Sludge On Filters?

Opened up the lid as im going to do a water change etc today and found this sludge all over my filter.. any idea what it is? the filters are only max 3 weeks old

I've seen tiny amounts of this before but not that much. What you got in the tank?

It's most probably a biofilm and perhaps a tad of brown algae issue, just take out the filter sponge/polywool it's on and lightly wash it off in some dechlorinated water or tank water and replace.

I get this on my filters where the water runs down. What fish do you have in that tank?
