Hey guys,
just recently aquired a 10 gallon and divided it for my two male bettas. They love their new big home, however the one that is on the side with the filter, really gets pushed around. It is an external filter and their is no control to slow the flow. I know bettas dont like strong currents and would prefer still water. I saw a great post about a homeade plastic thing that slowed it but cant find it??!! Any help anyone?

Take a 20 oz. *cleaned* coke bottle, cut around the base of the neck (right above the label) and above the bottom (right below the label). Then, take off the label and get cut off the part that had the glue strip. Stretch this peice over the part of the filter with the water in it, and over the bottom. This disperses the current but still cleans and aerates your aquarium. There's even a DIY thread on it.

I know exactly what you mean, thank you so much, dude! I just wasnt sure what kind of material/plastic to use. This should work great! thanks again. :good:

I have pop bottle parts over 4 of my filters here. Works great! :good: :)

I did it until my betta got aggressive in the community so I moved him to a 2 gallon hex. He's loving it. He's also very lazy.
