Well, I transfered my betta to a long shallow bowl with some gravel and a hidey hole.

Is it normal that he just floats about (no, he's not dead )? Just cruises around real slow and sometimes just floats in one spot for a while.

I just got him a few days ago so maybe he's stressed out. I got these betta pellts that he does eat so i suppose thats good.

I'm used to tetras and danios so i dont know what regular betta behavior is.

Also, I've been reading about filters for bettas and I'm quite confused whether or not a filter is needed or not. Def getting a heater tho.

I plan on getting a 2.5-3 gallon tank and bringing him to work. We are closed Fri and Sat, will he be ok with no light for 2 days?

Thanks!

Filters aren't a requirement for bettas, but filters will extend the life of your betta. Partial waters changes are mandatory though, if the tank is very small - full water changes. Get a testing kit to aslo make sure the ammonia levels aren't going crazy. Bettas can go 1-2 days without food mbut just to make sure feed him a high protein diet before his two day fast. I think he should be fine with no light for two days.
