Hello All!

So my tank has slightly cloudy water. Its not as clear as I would like it. It is a 30g with a tetra whisper 40 HOB. It has a sponge pad and a filter floss filter cartridge. I am out of cartridges so I am now going to switch to all sponges. It makes sense in my brain that a coarse sponge replacing the filter floss would make it even clouding as it wouldn't catch as small of particles. Is this true?

I can't use carbon as it is planted and I use fertilizers. Does puritan remove fertilizer as well?

I have also heard that you can use polyester stuffing as a water polisher. I might try that. Any thoughts?

All of my HOB have customized media. Ditch the cartridges and do something like this:

Top it off with some white quilt batting (one without fire retardant) I prefer the roll to the fluff.

Better yet, add a sponge on the intake for extra filtration.
