Just wondering, I know that fish don't sleep the same way people do, because they have to move to keep water flowing through their gills. I've heard they do go into a resting state. I was wondering should I turn off my tank lights at night so that it is easier for my fish to rest? Or is it a good idea to turn them off just to avoid a build up of agle?

i always turn mine off at night to mimick their real day and night in the wild the best i can

Ok, I knew it would cut down on the alge I just was making sure that they would be ok to "sleep" with the light on. But yeah i'll turn it off at night cause i'm sure they would be more happy that way :). thanks

And I heard most fish dont even need light... alot of fish live in caves where there is no light.. so really the light is only beneficial for us humans so we can enjoy looking at them.
