slate effect on ph level

Hi all,
i was wondering what effect does adding slate or ther stones have on the ph level of a tropicaltank, my current ph is about 6.2 and i would ideally liked to raise it a little, as some of you know i got an Oscar from the lfs which already had hith, so i am battling that, i cant put any plants in as they will just be destroyed, so i was thinking of putting a bit of slate and a big rock for them to hide.

Slate will do nothing for pH

If you want to raise your pH, buy some crushed coral sand and put them in a stocking in your filter. This will raise your pH and act as a great biological filter.
