i have a gold ram in my 15gal and over the last 2 months it has been really skinny no other symptoms. does anyone have any ideas on what it could be and how to treat it.

Is it eating? If so, I'm tempted to say internal parasites, or even wasting-away disease. There is a pinned topic about common fish diseases. Maybe that will give you a better idea.

to make sure its been eating ive been separating it from the other fish to feed it, and i might have put on a bit more weight. ill go check the common diseases thread.

I had a severly starved ram i "rescued" from a nearby LFS. Although passed away now, i fed him twice a day with both frozen and dry foods of good quality. He did gain weight and looked alot happier towards the end of his short life.

Feed him well, atleast twice a day with quality stuff, and provide good to excelent water quality and provided he has no internal disease or parasite he should gain weight and return to normal. :)

well ive been feeding her flakes and freeze dried blood worms, that the best i can do right now, it seems to be gaining a little bit more weight so ill see how it goes

Can you get a pick? This is my guy and you can just see how skinny he was...

i got some really good pics of it but the camera battery ran out before i could load them lol. but mine is probably as skinny as yours in the second photo but it was as bad as the one in the first, i think it must have not been eating as much, that tank has pretty agressive eaters.

Well I don't know if this will help you in any way but I recently asked a similar question in this thread over in the New World Cichlid section. I still don't have an answer and still have a very very thin looking Ram left - poor thing. I also just don't know what to do :dunno:

Being skinny can be internal parasites or fish tb, is the anus red and inflamed, are they eating alot.

Well I know mine for a fact do not have internal parasites. Its gradually been declining over several months whereas the other fish are in their prime & glowing health. Mine eats as normal - swims as normal - acts as normal. No inflamation or anything else.....
In my linked thread I was discussing with "juanveldez" that's it's more than likely due to my PH and hardness of water - however of course, it might be something entirely different to Bluefire. But just thought I mention the PH & hardness to keep in mind.

i think ive narrowed it dow to not eating as much because since ive separated it for feeding it has gained weight. the others in the tank are; serpae tetras a gourami and a krib, there all aggressive feeders so i think thats the problem
