38 W x 33 H x 30 D cm this is my 11 gallon tank
I have been doing research before I get my Betta and I was looking forward to it when I read.

They require a tank with shallow water and the book says 18x10x10
so 38x33x30 is going to be too much or will it be okay.

I was also going to filter but it says no filtration as they do not like this.

I thought about apple snails to eat excess food and keep tank clean?

Would I be best not to get one. I am so envious watching you all show them off but do they display their fins or do I need another tank with a female as well?

I was just thinking of one betta at the moment

Hiya tetraqueen.

Firstly that tank should be fine. If you put some plants in there (real or silk as plastic will tear his fins) for him to sit in and a few things for him to swim around to keep him amused he'll love you for it because bettas are inquisitive creatures!

As far as clean up crew goes apple snails should be fine but keep an eye on them as some bettas can be really fiesty and the poor snail might end up with no feelers! Remember though that each betta is different and as long as you can put the snails into your other tank if they don't get on then that's great. :good:

You can filter your tank as it obviously reduces the amount of water changes that you have to do etc etc but get a filter with a variable output, so you can have it on low as to not disturb the betta. They generally don't like heavy filtration because they are slow swimmers and all those lovely long fins weigh them down a bit, so swimming in a strong current can be difficult for them. A good filter would be a simple sponge one.

Some bettas are proud and will swim 'fully extended' most of the time where as others won't, again it's down to the individual fish but you can always stick a mirror to the outside of the tank for a few minutes every day so he can have a good flare and scare off the nasty betta in the mirror (makes him feel manly lol).

Any more questions feel free to ask! :)

P.S if it helps, all my tanks are filtered, and two of my boys are in a divided tank. There are plenty of hidey holes in the divided tank though so they can't see each other all the time.

Bettas are great fish, they are so interactive and friendly, they get my vote for the best fish to have!

I have no need to add any thing to that, i just wanted to say its good advice and you cant go wrong by following what alessasavoca has said

It has cheered me up as I was very down earlier. I will go and get him soon. Thanks.

That's ok :good:

If you ever want any questions asked we're a friendly bunch here in bettas really! If you aren't sure you can always give me a PM, and I'm sure so many other people will offer you help.

Hope you feel better
