Size Of Breeding Tank Question

ok so i have this pair get along great. temp is right. water is fixed. shes full of eggs but i had in a gallon he does fine so does she. and he blowing a bubblenest so i moved them to a 10 gal and now he won't do nothing. why does he seem to prefer the smaller space?

he might prefer the smaller space because he can see her better and has more motivation to build the nest if she is right there.
