I got a bronze cory from someone who could not look after it any more its not very big (about 5cm maybe more) but very healthy looking and very active.

I bought some King British algae wafers for it my question is should i give him/her a whole wafer or snap it in half as its been in the tank about 15 mins now and hes/shes just nibbled at it the cherry shrimp seem to want it more than he/she does its just snuffeling about in the sand.

EDIT: i thought i was in the cory section of the site sorry.. could someone move this for me.

Thanks

corys are quite slow eaters and dont eat it all at once like most fish, try breaking it up and scattering it around the tank this will give all the fish etc a small bit each and make them search for food more :good:

Thanks, also should i feed him everyday?

Also do you have a link to any info on sexing corys id like to know if its a he or a she lol.

yes the cory will need feeing daily just like any other fish.

sexing corys is quite difficult until they are bigger, the only way to tell is to look at the fish from above. if the fish is wide then its a female and if its narrow then its a male. the colours and markings will be the same on male and female corys.

if you only have 1 cory then you have nothing to compare it to to try and sex it. ideally corys should be kept in groups of 5+ the more the better. this makes them feel more secure as with most fish and you will see a whole new side to the fish as it plays with its mates. so if you have room in the tank i would suggest getting 4 or 5 more bronze corys or even albino bronze corys to keep him company. if you dont have the room then its best to rehome him so someone who has corys already or can get a group of corys in their tank....

At the end of the month im getting a new 28 gallon tank as i only have a ten gallon at the minute so il be getting a few more then.

Thanks alot for the help :good:
