Single Bala Shark

Ihave the oportunity to get a 5-6 inch Bala shark for £8 but i have heard its not a good idea to keep them on thier own. Why is this? If he has been on his own to get to this length what issues would I have?

It is less than 50% grown, should reach ~40cm. They are very skittish fish which do far better with the reassurance of at least 6+, but I would always try to source 10+ of any social fish species, they are reknowned for going bonkers when people simply enter the room where they are (doing damage to themselves). I would not put a Bala Shark (group) in less than a 12x3x3 myself

The thing is with these fish they are stupidly common for such an unsuitable fish - in fairness a 6x2x2 will be a good home for this one but totally agree with goat - massive ponds / tanks for them to be able to swarm around in somewhat naturally.
