hello, I am just curious as to how long silver tipped tetras live for, i have had him for five years, there were four of them at one point but they all slowly died away apart from this little guy. I have never got anymore partly because I never see them in the shops and partly because i cant have anymore fish (at the mo).

But he is the oldest fish in my tank and is really healthy so I was wondering how long they live for.

couple of years left then in the old fishy

Generally 5-7years is a very good age for a small species of Tetra like the Silver Tip so hes doing well.

I originally bought 4 of these, 3 died but I still have the remaining one (male). I thought he'd get lonely when they died but he took up following and swimming with one of my albino corys. Corys look comical at the best of times but albino ones even moreso....and the Silver Tip in tow where ever it went just looked so cute. Of course the cory completely ignored him but didn't seem to mind the Silver Tip swimming side by side with it.

I bought him 4 'friends' recently but he ignored them all and stayed with the albino cory! He's now in a seperate tank with his own kind plus some neons amongst others. It was a shame to seperate them really

Looking forward to another 5-7(ish) years of his company!

That's EXACTLY what mine did! But he killed off the other silver tips... I thought he was just a bit psychologically damaged :/.

Yeah mine seems to hang around with the x ray tetras I have.
