-_- can anybody give me i bit of advice as i'm not sure if my molly is pregnant.she has a promenant black spot in her stomach which seems to be growing, but she doesn't seem to be getting any fatter.she looks very heathly and active, also why do my male guppies keep trying to mate with her.i have read that if she is pregnant when she is ready to drop her fry her stomach will turn brown is this true?

hello,
if shes ever been close to a male she will most likely be pregnant, also if you can see her gravid spot ( black spot ) close to her anal fin i would say she is, mine gave birth roughly every six weeks, ive never heard of it going brown though, some fish dont get really fat some do, when she hides a lot thats one sign shes ready to give birth, as for the male guppy they will mate with any thing that swims lol, right now my male is trying it on wihh a platy  , hth all the best with the fry, donna :) .

thanks for that donna its made me feel alot better knowing that my guppies will mate with any thing.they will not leave her alone as for my molly maybe she will start to hide in the next couple of weeks cos the gravid spot does seem to be gettin bigger each day. :good:

just thought i would let you all know that my molly did give birth earlier than i thought, she had loads of fry. i only noticed when my sister-inlaw ask me for my water so she can set her other tank up that she noticed that there were baby fish in there.out of all the the fry she had in her tank only one survived and we only noticed today that it was alittle molly.so next time i will have to be i bit more careful when i do my water changes , not to give my water away, cos now she has the baby molly swiming around in her tank. :( :(
