Silver Dollar Lying On It's Side...but Gill's Moving

Was rushing through a fish dept at garden centre today and saw a tank with Silver Dollars's in. One was lying at the bottom on it's side. Didn't look dead as it's gills were moving. I'm sure I read somewhere that some fish do this but I can't remember why? Anyone?

When fish lay on the bottom to one side it can be a bacterial infection, and once they lay on there sides, usually they are dying.
