Id like to know what the silver coat in my water is its right on top of my water and everytime I pit my hand in ita gone for a bit but then comes back

Is it bad for my fish because right now im havimg a little ammonia problem

Well, to some extent it can be, because your skin probably has soap in it and it when you stick your hands in there it comes in your fish tank, but this is certainly not the cause of your ammonia problem

Take a sheet of paper towel and lay it on the surface of your tank water for a moment, it will absorb the oil!

When I wash my hands I dry them thoroughly...Idk what it can be I randomly woke Sunday morning and my tank was foggy and I checked the ammonia had spiked upwhat can I do to fix this ive done water changes everyday and I doesnt seem to work I losy a fish already and I feel like im going to lose more

Your tank was cycled?

Did you possibly forget to add dechlorinator to your water before adding it to your tank? It could be that you lost your bacteria in your filter!

Do you have a liquid test kit? What are the readings of Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate?

When you wash your hands before working on your tank insure that your hands are extremely well rinsed, any residue of soap could harm your fish and bacteria. It may be a good idea to use a fresh little face cloth to dry your hands, that way you don't rub residues (soaps, oils) from the towel back onto your hands.

My ammonia is at .14 nitrate .5 and nitrite .5 everything in my tank was stable and then I woke up and it was randomly fogged up and yes my tank was cycled...and I dry with a towel after washing my hands

Have you done a water change yet? If not do one now. Keep those readings of ammonia and nitrIte as low as you can. It seems you still have some bacteria left, since there is nitrAte present, unless it is still a left over from before. The fogginess in your tank could be a bacteria bloom, or an algae bloom. Is there a greenish colour to the fogginess or rather white or milkish?

What I meant to say about the towel is, if you dry your hand with a towel that has been used many times before it may have soap and oil residues on it. If you use that towel after you've just thoroughly washed and rinsed your hands, they may end up just as dirty as before! I use a fresh face cloth to dry my hands with to avoid this!

my water is more milky and I will be changing from towel to fresh face cloth... I changed the water on Sunday yesterday and today water still looks milky I know I have to be patient but how long would it take for it to clear up

You're doing great doing daily water changes. How much water do you change each time? As to how long it will take for the water to clear up, I don't know, this will depend on your tank. Have you checked your ph lately? Do you know what it was before?

I probably do a 20-30% water change and I have drift wood so my Ph is normally around 6.5-7.0 its always around there I have a 55 gallon fish tank

Usually, when there is something going wrong in a tank you should do at least 50% water changes (unless you're dealing with old tank syndrome). Just keep an eye on those parameters (ammonia, nitrite and nitrate), keep them as close to 0 as you can to avoid damage to your fish!

I used to get milky water after water changes, and found out later that my ph had crashed due to low gh and kh, that's why I was asking about your ph. You may want to check it to make sure it's still fine!!!

Well I bought the tank new and my tap water is 7.5 if thats of any help
